Today, I’m sharing my daughter’s birthday favors for her classmates! This is an envelope I made using the Envelope Punch Board and I was able to customize the envelope size to hold a Wikki Stix Fun Favor. If you have little ones or grandchildren, check these things out! They are wax-covered pieces of yarn that kids can form into shapes – so fun!
A Wikki Stix Fun Favor pack measures about 3-1/2″ x 6″, so I searched for that dimension on my trusty Envelope Punch Board. This envelope requires an 8″ x 8″ piece of paper with a beginning score line of 3-1/8″. There’s a little note on the punch board that says “Final envelopes will have an approximate 1/8″ margin on all sides”, which was actually perfect, because I wanted to use the largest of the Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits Dies, which measures 3-1/2″ x 6″. So I’d end up with the envelope being about 1/8″ larger on all sides – a perfect border size! I love it when there’s a happy mathematics accident!
The largest die from the Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits is intended to be used as a pop-up, so it cuts and scores, but it’s also a great layering piece. So I simply cut a piece of card stock to 3-1/2″ x 6″ and cut it out with my Big Shot.
Since I made two dozen of these, I decided to be kind to myself and use the Balloon Bouquet punch to quickly create balloons in different colors that fit perfectly over the die-cut piece. For the Whisper White banner that says, “HBD, Lillie!”, I used scraps of Whisper White and cut out just the banner portion of the largest Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits. I trimmed off any excess parts using the score lines as my cutting guide. I hope that makes sense!
