Velcro Dots Dispenser Box

Today’s project is a fun storage solution that will brighten up your crafty space! I’ve been searching for a dispenser to store my favorite Velcro dots (other than in the box they come in), but didn’t have any luck, so I designed my own!

This box measures 2-3/4″H x 2-3/4″W x 1-1/8″D and is a perfect fit for a roll of Velcro dots! In particular, these 5/8″ Thin Clear Fasteners from VELCRO:

These Velcro dots come on 2 separate strips of acetate – 1 for the hook side and 1 for the loop side. When I receive a new box, I take the time to “sandwich” the 2 sides together to create 1 “ready-to-use” strip of Velcro dots.

For this dispenser box, I rolled the strip tightly and placed it in the box and it will unravel just enough to fit perfectly! I designed this box to both be refillable and easy to dispense the Velcro dots!

I know you’re going to ask… But Julie, will it hold Glue Dots? Well, it depends on how your Glue Dots are positioned on the roll! Over the years, Glue Dots have switched sides and there’s some speculation as to which way is the correct way (and I have no idea)! Almost every roll of Glue Dots I’ve owned over the years has had the dots on the front side of the backing strip. But recently, the Glue Dots have been on the back side of the backing strip. So… if your Glue Dots are on the back side, then they should work in this dispenser box. Otherwise, if they’re on the front side, your Glue Dots will stick to the inside of the dispenser box and you’ll have a mess on your hands. How’s that for a long-winded answer? LOL.

Isn’t the sentiment appropriate for Velcro dots? It’s a hook & loop marriage made in heaven ready for your crafty projects!

  2. OK I laughed out loud at your sentiment!!! LOVE your videos and watch them in the morning when I am doing my hair and make-up. One video lasts me 2-3 days. Now going to see if I can re-roll my Glue Dots and make a box. I note on the Stampin’ Up! website the Glue Dot picture shows the dots on the top side of the backing strip which I think is the correct way. That is unless you want to put them in a box!

  6. Hi Julie, I just made a similar box for my glue dots that is 3x3x1 . I probably could have made it smaller but I had a faulty memory of your sizes. Anyway, I changed the slit to the other side and on the bottom of the side. If the dots are on the bottom (?) of the tape it works. ( :

  12. Hi Julie, thanks for all your help and everything you do. Hey, I’m almost 85 and I don’t have the knowledge on computers or help if I mess up to straighten it out. I wish I had you’re smarts.

The velcro dispenser is a great idea if you have a craft room, you just make everthing so pretty and nice that we want it all.
You do an out standing job at explaining. Thank you
