Pinewood Planks Merry Christmas

Today’s project is a CASE (copy and share everything) of a card I received from Angie Lisk at our World Card Making Day event in Atlanta! This card features the Snowflake Sentiments and Wood Words stamp sets with the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

I just fell in love with Angie’s card and decided to CASE it for my recent class. The ladies loved this card! A great big thanks to Angie for her inspiration!

Angie’s version used Cherry Cobbler card stock instead of Night of Navy and the Smoky Slate Gingham Ribbon, but I had to improvise as I was out of Cherry Cobbler cardstock and didn’t have the Smoky Slate ribbon!

First, stamp the floral pattern from Wood Words onto your Whisper White Layer. Then, to create the Pinewood Plank embossing effect, you just gently apply ink directly to the embossing folder before running it through the Big Shot (don’t worry – it rinses off easily with water!). You can experiment with which side of the embossing folder you apply the ink to for different effects. For this card, I applied it to the more detailed/intricate side, which debossed the cardstock and placed the ink in the debossed grooves – I hope that makes sense!

The bow is a little bit of a cheat! I cut a piece of ribbon about 1/2″ longer on each side than the width of the card and wrapped the overhanging ends to the back – adhering using some Fast Fuse. Then, I tied a bow around that piece – which allowed me to get the bow to face the direction I wanted it to, without having to fuss with it!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Be sure to stop back tomorrow for this month’s InKing Royalty Blog Hop! You don’t want to miss it! I hope you have a wonderful and blessed day!

  1. Julie, I stumbled upon this when I was CASEing one of your 3D projects for thank you gifts. WCMD 2017 was so much fun! I’m honored that you CASEd my card and featured it on your blog. I made these Christmas cards again but I used Garden Green since I was out of Cherry Cobbler. I’m definitely going to try the Night of Navy next!

  2. I received Angie’s card in the swap, too, and love it! This is a great CASE of that card. The Smoky Slate and Night of Navy combination is so crisp and beautiful.

  3. Your card is very pretty. It is just as stunning in the blue & Gray as the cherry cobbler. I can tell by the wood grain how you colored the wood effect, but did you also stamp the flowers onto the EF, or onto the card itself, before or after running it thru the bigshot? TFS.
