Happy Birthday Gate Fold – cQc50

Today’s birthday card features a few different techniques and ideas.  First, the card base is using the gate fold technique.  I cut a piece of card stock to 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and (placing horizontally) scored it at 2-1/8″ and 6-3/8″ to achieve the gate fold.

Second, for some added dimension, I added a few score lines on the “gates” at random intervals on my scoring tool.

And third, you’ll notice the Pear Pizzazz main focal point is a little different shape than we’re used to seeing.  It is simply created by running a piece of card stock through the Big Shot using the Top Note Die TWICE.  The second time you run it through, turn the first piece that you created 90 degrees – centering it – before running it through a second time.  And, voila!  A square-ish Top Note piece!

My color scheme came from the ColourQ challenge this week.  Stop by and check it out – they always have wonderful color combinations for us!

  1. What a fun card! I really love this stamp because my initials are HB and whenever I see it, I smile! I also love how you used the gate fold technique and what a creative way to make a different shape using the Top Note.
