Watercolor Swallowtail Card

Today’s card showcases an easy watercoloring technique that really brings a wow factor! I took my Swallowtail stamp and colored on it with 4 of the 5 2014-2016 In Color Stampin’ Write markers. I made sure to color starting with the lightest marker to the darkest marker. Then I spritzed it lightly (okay, I was a little heavy with the spritzin’) with water using a Stampin’ Spritzer and stamped it on some watercolor paper and — voila! I love this technique!

I thought about adding ribbon to this card, but I really wanted the watercoloring to stand out, so I opted for just a small sentiment and some embellishments. What a great sentiment for someone going through a hard time – “you’ve got courage, you’ve got strength, you’ve got me.” “You’ve got me” is stamped inside the card. This card is going to a dear college friend of mine battling cancer – who has unbelievable strength and courage. I continue to pray she wins the battle.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a blessed Labor Day weekend!

  1. Fabulous card Julie! Thanks too for sharing the details on how you created it. The sentiment you paired with the butterfly really adds a punch to the overall card too. I'm loving that new stamp set.
