Origami Box in Box with Facebook Live Video Tutorial

Today’s project is one of my favorite Origami projects! This is an Origami Box in Box, but Paper Pixie style!

I’ve made these boxes for years and finally got my act together to demonstrate it for you! The version I demonstrate in the video is created with a 6″ x 6″ piece of paper, but I’ll include scoring measurements below for 8″ x 8″ and 12″ x 12″!

Measurements:

Here are the measurements for a box created with an 6″ square piece of paper (demonstrated in video):

  • Petal Garden DSP – 6″ x 6″ – Finished dimensions of the outside box are 2-1/4″ x 1-1/2″ x 3/4″ and the inside box  measures 1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″ x 3/4″
    • Score at 3/4″, 1-1/2″ and 1-7/8″, rotate 180° and repeat
      • If your pattern is directional, these are the score lines that should follow the up & down direction of your pattern
    • Rotate 90° and score at 1-1/2″ and 2-1/4″, rotate 180° and repeat

Here are the measurements for a box created with an 8″ square piece of paper:

  • Finished dimensions of the outside box are 3″ x 2″ x 1″ and the inside box measures 2″ x 2″ x 1″
    • Score at 1″, 2″, and 2-1/2″, rotate 180° and repeat
    • Rotate 90° and score at 2″ and 3″, rotate 180° and repeat

Here are the measurements for a box created with a 12″ square piece of paper:

  • Finished dimensions of the outside box are 4-1/2″ x 3″ x 1-1/2″ and the inside box measures 3″ x 3″ x 1-1/2″
    • Score at 1-1/2″, 3″, and 3-3/4″, rotate 180° and repeat
    • Rotate 90° and score at 3″ and 4-1/2″
