Star Gift Box with Video Tutorial

Today’s project is the project I shared during last night’s Weekly Wednesday Facebook Live! It’s a star-shaped gift box that I am absolutely in love with.

Here’s another view:

And another (smile):

I originally saw this idea from fellow German demonstrator Heike Böhme-Küppenbender about a year ago and set out to figure out a way to create a hexagonal piece of paper without a compass. After lots of trial and error, I figured it out! It really is a fun box to create, so check out my video tutorial:

Here’s the template I shared during the video:

I hope you’ll give this box a try! It’s a beautiful box for the holidays that you can fill with wonderful things!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a wonderful and blessed day!

  1. Only 4.5 years behind seeing this video, but it is so unique! Thank you so much for sharing! Although I haven’t attempted to make it yet the directions in the video seem so clear and fool-proof. Thanks again!

  3. Hi Julie

First off, I just love your tutorials and your ideas. I love that you make a template as it is so much easier to visualize where you need to cut. Keep them coming, I’m watching all of the tutorials you have on your gallery.

Can you please put the directions to make this box on your blog. The only thing you have for measurements is the size paper you need.

You should also rename this “The Star of David” treat box, because that’s what it looks like and for those of us who are Jewish or those who would like to make something for a Jewish person this is a great box.

  4. Love, love, love this box Julie, can’t wait to try it!

You’re my favourite YouTube demonstrator, I always enjoy your videos. I’m hoping one day to be well enough to become a demonstrator here in the UK.

  5. Julie… I’m going to try and make this in blue cardstock and place gold points over the blue and see if my Hebrew friend will like this filled with gold chocolate coins for the holidays??? Do you think it will do???

  6. I am so glad you include a template. I have a spatial disorder that causes me no end of grief when I craft. The template really helps with right/left, up/down.
