I like to take the day off of work. Where I work I wear a badge with my birthday on it for everyone to see. And because start work at 300 am it’s nice to have the next day off too, so I can stay up and celebrate with the family. Hope you have a special birthday Julie.

I love to make a homemade scratch Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese icing !!! That is to take one layer and slice it in half, ice it and stack the next layer cake on top ice it then take the second cake and repeat. Put a few South Ga Fresh Pecans on top for decoration on the icing. Of Course celebrating with family and friends is an important part!

I love spending time with family and enjoying a piece of chocolate cake.
On my birthday I like to relax. Maybe just visiting with my son and husband. Last year I just wanted to go riding around the area I was born and raised and then drove backroads reminiscing. Stopped and had fish for lunch amended the day at a DQ for a cone. Just a laidback day.
At home my daughter and I look at all the scrapbooks and pictures from when I was little and compare them to hers to see how much we look alike or did the same things but many years apart. My husband buys me flowers or a new plant for the yard. And at work (I own a child care center with 120 littles) and they like to draw me my own parking spot in chalk with my name on it and paint a big birthday banner and hang it on the fence. They made sure on my 50th that the 50 was nice and big that way everyone that drove by knew how old I was. (Thanks for that).

For my birthday I like to celebrate it at home with my wonderful hubby. We are empty nesters now. My birthday is in the middle of summer. I enjoy sitting on my balcony, some ice cream and a good cup of coffee (i.e. Cappucchino or Latte Macchiato) by my side, watching the sun go down. Especially when the sunlight turns to orange, pink and at last in a deep bloody red. Wow!

Happy Birthday! When my great granny was alive, I looked forward to her baking me a pecan pie. It is my favorite dessert and hers was filled with lots of pecans and love. Now, my grandmother, an equally exceptional baker, makes me a German chocolate cake. There is never a shortage of love showered upon me on my birthday. Some years are harder than others to do what I love. I love getting to spend some time with my husband and children. But as our children are now grown with children of their own it is harder to get time with them. But I still love hearing from them. But my husband’s birthday is different because his birthday is the 4th of July so all our kids are off work and are available to celebrate with us. As a bonus our small town has a parade to add to the festivities.

Our grown children and their families live many hundreds of miles away, so birthdays here are very quiet. I miss the hustle and bustle of family, cake, silly gifts…. for my birthday, I enjoy a meal out with my hubby of almost 46 years, and a couple we’ve known for about 30 years. Since my birthday is in May and the weather is a little more reasonable in Massachusetts, I love to celebrate it by taking a walk along the rocky Marginal Way in Oguncuit Maine. Oguncuit is a small village along the craggy and wild southern Maine coast. It is not too far from home and any chance I have to visit the ocean always brightens my day. My birthday is the same as my wedding anniversary, so my Husband and I go to Hawaii to celebrate.
Since my husband’s birthday is so close to mine in the late spring we celebrate by going to our favorite place and rent a house on the lake for a few days. I am an SU Demonstrator in Illinois, and because this is one of our sons’ birthday month, I have been salivating for my birthday in June (NOT the high number of years)! This family requests pies instead of birthday cake! So my favorite way to celebrate my birthday is with family and strawberry rhubarb pie! This month it is key lime pie for the son and pizza bread and tortellini and meatballs for dinner (yes, all 3 of our adult children make the same birthday dinner request PLUS their individual pie choice!).
There are many ways I like to enjoy my birthday…go to dinner, go away for a fun weekend, just relax at home. But, my ultimate birthday is when I have my children and grandchildren here for a cookout or special dinner. Love spending time with all of them!

I’ll then get myself ready and head in to town to a sweet little boutique and my friends are waiting for me to have lunch, visit and open gifts. Later that evening, my husband always tells me that he’ll take me out to eat at Sonic and I can order whatever I like (he’s only kidding). I love going to the zoo on my birthday. Even though my kids are older, I still enjoy seeing my favorite animals (elephants, giraffes). Our zoo recently lost an elephant and I sent a handmade sympathy card. Such a loss for it’s family!

Happy Birthday first of all. How fun. One thing I love to do on my birthday is lay in bed a little longer than the day before. I take a moment and reflect on the past year and see what I want to do for the upcoming year. Then, I try to pull myself out of my warm bed and go about doing loads of fun stuff. Several, several years ago my husband began a birthday tradition for me of gifting me with a Yule Log birthday ice cream cake–my birthday is quite close to Christmas. He’d either buy one or more lately, make it himself–usually with Rocky Road ice cream–Yum!
