UPDATED FOR 2024! I’ve been on an organization kick lately, so thought I’d share another idea with you! It’s taken me awhile to settle on a rainbow order of Stampin’ Up! colors! I know we all see color differently, so this can be very personal, but I thought I’d share the rainbow order I’ve settled on!
Here’s a picture of my cardstock in rainbow order from 2021 in my Stamp-n-Storage IKEA Paper Shelves:

Pleasing to the eye, isn’t it? Rainbows make me happy, so I love looking at my cardstock this way!
To help me choose a rainbow order, I created a swatch sampler that I know will get lots of use in my crafting space!

Check out that fancy ring I added! LOL! I couldn’t find a binder ring anywhere in the house, but I found the ring from my AirPods case that I wasn’t using and it works! Yay for repurposing! A plastic or metal binder ring (or even ribbon) will work perfectly for this, but I just didn’t need a pack of 100 from Amazon, you know?
This was super easy to create! Here are the steps:
- Cut cardstock to 2″ x 3″
- Punch top with Delightful Tag Topper Punch (retired)
- Round bottom corners with Detailed Trio Punch (retired)
- Adhere labels to the back
Labels you say? Why yes! Here’s a picture of my first iteration of labels for my personal set:

These are just super simple, basic labels, but I wanted to take them up a tiny notch and include the 8-1/2″ x 11″ cardstock item numbers to make it easy for reordering! So… I created a simple FREE download for you that you can print on the Avery 8167 Return Address Labels!
While the labels are in the rainbow color order I’ve settled on, you are welcome to rearrange your cardstock swatches any way you like!

I acquired several sheets of Stampin Up paper and I have matched and figured out the colors, but I have four colors that I can’t determine what they are at all. One is literally neon pink. I paid someone from Etsy for file labels and her pineapple punch doesn’t match what I thought I had. I can’t find what color patterns are in the neon pack. Could you help me with that please. Also do you sell the color palette tags that are shown with the ring? I have colors from 2008 to current. Thanks, You have a great site.
Hi Shelly! I’m not sure which colors you are referring to without some more details. Sometimes digital colors print differently than the true colors, so it’s possible it’s Pineapple Punch? I’ve only been a demonstrator since 2010, so I’m afraid I won’t be able to help you if the colors are older than that. I do not sell the color palette tags shown with the ring. Let me know if you have any other questions! If you’d like, you can email me a picture of the colors you are trying to identify to support@thepaperpixie.com.
Thank you so much for this great resource. I used a couple of retired punches to make my little tags. The labels you made are perfect. I’m so happy with my new little collectioj of all of our colors!
Thank you so much for the rainbow order and labels, Julie!! ❤️
That looks so awesome! Thank you for sharing. I absolutely LOVE your storage unit! Did you get it custom built?
Hi Arlene! Yes, my paper storage unit on the wall was custom designed by California Closets to closely resemble the IKEA Kallax storage units.
Hi Julie,
Did you reorganize your paper for 2022? I would love to see how you’ve added in the new incolors.
Hi Maureen! Yes, I have, but haven’t posted the updated order yet. It’s on my to-do list!
Hi Julie
This will be so useful. Thank you for sharing and your hard work.
Thank you, Raquel! I’ll be updating with the new 2022-2024 In Colors soon!
Hi,
I really enjoyed cutting my card stock and putting it on a ring to keep
track of them along with the name of the paper. My question was did you maybe have a list of older colors that
have been retired. Thanks
Watched your video from Aug 25. I use some of the same organizational items you use. I’ll need to rewatch and take some notes.
Thank you, Julie! I spent yesterday and part of today making my swatch sampler. I’ve been meaning to make one but I CASED yours instead, and didn’t have to reinvent the wheel, so to speak!. It was easy, just time-consuming. I love it and will be sharing my sampler with my friends!
Thank you for sharing your card list labels. It would take me 2 days to type those out hahaha. I love your organizational ideas, they fit my OCD of having everything in its place. You are so generous to share tools and ideas.
Thank you for such great ideas to organize stamping supplies. I really appreciate your shRi g and the hard work it takes to put it all into words and samples.
Thank you, Betty! So happy it’s helpful for you! ❤️
That is indeed very pleasing to the eye! I like those holders, but how do you store your scraps?
Hi Becky! I store my scraps right next to the full sheets of cardstock in the Stamp-n-Storage Paper Sleeves! They have a tab on it where I add the color name too, which makes it really easy to find the color I’m looking for! https://www.stampnstorage.com/paper-sleeve/#a_aid=ThePaperPixie
Thank you so much for sharing this Julie! This will be very useful.
Wonderful!!! Thank you for sharing your bright ideas, Julie. The wall of rainbow colors looks so cheerful, too; Like a painting!
Wow this is such a time, saver,fo us!! Mind you, it calls for complete overhaul of my craft room but believe me I plan to hang onto this valuable work of yours! Love your color organization, you did very well….I do know what you mean about everyone having different perceptions of color , but this suits me fine. Not. Bad given our age difference. I do envy your cardstock storage space….mine is a jungle ….of many mfgrs .all in one space by color. Thanks, for, sharing!
Thanks so much for the Download of cardstock names. That is sooooo useful. And I love receiving your project ideas.
Thanks for all you share with us, Julie !
You’re such an inspiration! Love what you did.
How do you know where a color is located on the shelf? Is that where the swatches come in?
I look forward to your lives every week. See you tonight!
Marlene
Hi Marlene! Thank you! I use the Stamp-n-Storage Paper Sleeves to hold my scraps and add a label to the tabs of those. Works great! Over time, you start to memorize where the colors are too!
Good job, the rainbow of colors works great. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much for sharing your rainbow colour template. I truly appreciate all the work you do and the projects you do on your weekly live. I am looking forward to this evening.
Very clever and so practical! Love your organizational ideas!❤️

You are the best! Thank you.
This is a wonderful idea! I am on an organizing kick and this is perfect timing. Just did my papers yesterday. I only have file folders still so this will be very helpful in picking out my color without going through folders. Thank you!! 🙂
I used to store my papers in file folders and loved it!! Perfect for full sheets AND scraps! So happy this will help you! I can’t stop playing with mine – LOL!
You are AMAZING! I wish you were running our country!
This is a very clever craft room organization idea! Thank you for the wonderful download!
Thank you so much, Rosemarie!
Thank you so much. I absolutely love the idea of those paper swatches on a ring. I will be doing that immediately! Thank you for all the hard work you do in order to make our crafting life easier. The download is very much appreciated!
Yay, Chris! I am so happy this will help you! I don’t know why it took me so long to do this – will be a super helpful tool!
Great idea with the tags! In cleaning out I recently found one of these from about 20 years ago! ❤️
Thank you, Jackie! It’s a relic! LOL!
