Gingerbread House Treat Box & Lever Fold Card

I’m so excited to share today’s projects with you! I created a Gingerbread House Treat Box and a Lever Fold Card featuring the Humble Home Bundle paired with the Take a Bow Designer Series Paper! I also share a great trick to help you with your reverse/mirror stamping!

This pair of projects was so fun to create! I absolutely love the white heat embossing on Pecan Pie to turn these houses into gingerbread houses! Let’s get to the project details!

Gingerbread House Treat Box

This sweet little gingerbread house features a house-shaped box to hold 2 Hershey’s Nuggets! I designed a milk-carton-style box with a closed lid to fit the house shape and keep the treats safe from falling out!

The gingerbread houses are created with white heat embossing on Pecan Pie cardstock and punched out with the Humble Home Builder Punch! A tiny peppermint embellishment adorns the door.

Both sides of the Gingerbread House Treat Box are heat embossed and I used the mirror or reverse stamping technique! I share a hot tip in my video tutorial, so be sure to check it out! I also added a little stamped panel to each side.

Here’s how this treat box opens:

I added a Velcro closure (I cut the Velcro in half) to keep the pair of Hershey’s Nuggets inside. Just too cute! I hope you’ll give this project a try!

Here’s the template for reference (not to scale):

PROJECT MEASUREMENTS:

  • Finished Size – 1-3/4″H x 1-3/8″W x 1-3/8″D
  • Designer Series Paper – 4″ x 6″ (landscape)
    • Score along the 6″ side at 1-3/8″, 2-3/4″, 4-1/8″, and 5-1/2″
    • Turn a quarter turn clockwise and score along the 4″ side at 1″, 2″, and 3″
  • Cardstock (sentiments) – 3/4″ x 1-1/8″ (2 pcs)

Lever Fold Card

At first glance, this card looks like a regular card! But, once you open it, the lever magic happens!

I’ve seen many versions of this style card: attached, not attached, with tabs added, etc. But, this is my favorite way to create this card because it it simple! And I share some great tips & tricks to putting it together in my video tutorial.

When you open the card, the focal point swivels! It’s so cool!

There’s plenty of room to write your message, but I recommend doing so before you adhere the left side of the insert to the front of the card!

I hope you’ll give this easy fun fold a try! Also, don’t mind my cat ears in the video – my livestream was the night before Halloween!

PROJECT MEASUREMENTS:

  • Finished Card Size (A2) – 5-1/2″H x 4-1/4″W
  • Cardstock Base – 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored and folded in half at 4-1/4″
  • Cardstock (lever mechanism) – 5-1/4″ x 8″
    • Score along the 8″ side at 2″, flip to backside, 4″, and 6″
  • Designer Series Paper:
    • 5-1/4″ x 4″ (portrait)
    • 5″ x 1-3/4″ (2 pcs – portrait)
  • Cardstock (sentiment) – 1-3/8″ x 2″

  5. Love this gingerbread house. However I live in Canada and cannot find the humble Home bundle dies. I watched the show and how you made it and it was really good. Just a perfect size for a few candies. I watch all your shows and have made many of your projects. Bonnie Parsons.

    • Hi Bonnie! The Humble Home Bundle is currently out of stock (it’s a punch bundle, not a die bundle), but is estimated to be restocked the Week of December 2. If you have a Canadian demonstrator you shop with, you can order the bundle when it becomes available.

  6. I can’t wait to make the gingerbread box for my team members! I bought the stamp set after I saw you make it, but the punch is unavailable until Dec 2. I figure it’s easy enough to fussy cut out though. You are so talented and creative with your boxes and cards. I never attempted making boxes until I started watching you! You explain the process so well! I’m excited to be a Pixie Patron and learn all that I learn from you about crafting and organizing my craft room as well as using technology! I hope to meet you in person at OnStage in Raleigh. Take care and Happy Stamping!

  7. I do so appreciate all the work you do to make patterns that we can use for making all these cool boxes, cards and other little goodies. So many dies are becoming so overpriced that they are out of reach, and we can count on you to continue to bring us
all these wonderful things without the use of dies (for the most part) 🙂
    Keep up the fab work!
