  1. It has been so nice to see our Ohio Governor Dewine and DOH Dr Amy encouraging us daily at 2:00. They are calm and hopeful.

  4. I went to the grocery store and while chatting with the cashier I mentioned that I hoped the hoarders would soon stop hoarding because I was down to 3 rolls of TP and once more the shelves were bare. We laughed about it and as I was walking away she stopped me and said wait, she had something for me. She ran to the back and brought out a paper bag with a 6 roll pack of TP and her name with a smiley face on the outside. She wouldn’t let me pay her for it. It restored my faith in people! Needless to say I will have a great card for her next time I have to go to the grocery!

  6. I have been sending friends and family cards with a “Card Kit” included so they can make the card and send it on to someone else they think could use a little pick me up. So far everyone who has received these has had a great time making the card and the recipients have been positively thrilled with their snail mail.
Thank you for all you do and for your continued willingness to share your talents with others Julie. You are just awesome!! Debie from sunny California

I am thankful my company made the decision to have everyone work from home. I do miss seeing my coworkers in person at work but virtually is just as nice.

Since my brother passed away from this disease I know firsthand how devastating and isolating one can feel. Hoping to brighten her day with a Paper Pumpkin kit and a box of a variety of cards she can use so she won’t have to get out and expose herself to the virus. Her immune system is already down and needs to shelter in place. Thanks for the the card box video. I will use it to make a decorative box for the cards I send her. Bless you and your family and please stay safe a healthy!

So each day on my calendar, I’ve set aside a couple of hours to stamp with friends via FaceTime. It’s the emotional support that’s really needed right now. Thank you for modern technology!!

With those cards the are made, I’m sending them to the Nursing Facility where my mom is at. The Director of Nursing will distribute the cards to all the patients. Enjoy a blessed Sunday!

I gifted a Paper Pumpkin to my cousin in Florida. She is not into making cards, but is very impressed with the March kit. Hopefully she will come on board.

We have a prayer chain going where we pray each day, check on the folks with a friendly telephone call and thank The Good Lord we are still alive.

  19. My husband and I check on family at least once a day. Also, check on friends and neighbors. As we contact those we love we try to bring positive thoughts to them. Remaining positive is so important! We have 5 grandchildren and bringing them favorite things we hope to keep them feeling somewhat normal. Everyone is facing challenges in dealing with the uncertain times.

We have a grandson that has been laid off of work so we sent him a grocery gift card and plan to do so until he goes back to work or finds another job! We have been able to go to the grocery store and get lists from neighbors and family before we go. (Special delivery from our house to theirs!)

Praying for all! Stay safe and hang on to “FAITH”. God is with us.

  29. I am older with health issues, so the most I’ve gotten out is to get curbside grocery pickups and drop them off. Even still, I’ve seen soooo many kind acts! The delivery guys have been great – working overtime with smiles on their faces. Same with the people working curbside pickup. My sister needed a computer; a friend fixed up a really good old one and gave it to her for free. He wouldn’t take any money, but when he dropped off the computer in the garage, I had a grocery order there and begged him to take something. He finally took a 2.5 pound box of raisins – yay! I’ve been buying groceries using curbside pickup for a couple of families and then just dropping the food off at their doorsteps. I’ve made it a point to call a nephew every day who has been isolated in his first apartment. I tried to call an 88 year old woman who lives alone, with no answer. I stopped by her house and a neighbor told me (from a distance) that, after a fall, she had been taken to live in a nursing home. I could go on, but honestly, there have been many heartwarming moments. I feel blessed!

  37. My mom died of pancreatic cancer exactly a month ago today. We were one of the fortunate ones who were able to have a funeral while it was still considered safe to be at church in groups. Unfortunately, the grieving doesn’t end for me or her best friends just because the funeral is over, and we no longer have Sunday church services, community activities, or restaurants open to get together to laugh, cry, hug, or reminisce about her. Hence, what I have been doing after work is calling my mom’s friends to help them through THEIR grief of losing my mom and isolation during this time of social distancing and now “safe at home” requirements in our state. It also gives me a chance to make sure they’re doing okay medically, since some of them have families that live out of town. My mom’s friends seem to appreciate the phone calls (since they used to talk to her every day—even if they were getting together sometime that day!!) and the offers to help them out, but I know I am equally as blessed and have a full heart after I’m done talking and checking on each of them.

My husband and I started journaling what we do each day during our quarantine, but what began as record-keeping has turned into an introspective look at how this time is changing us and our circle of friends. My daughter, nieces and there families have been doing the same thing. We share our notes when we FaceTime. Even the youngest grandkids have begun keeping journals—some just in scribbling colors on a page, others drawing pictures, some writing phrases about their activities and feelings. This forced separation has actually brought us all closer together.

Since her mom is in Michigan and there are no funerals right now and if she travels she can’t come back to work for two weeks, she could not go to say good bye. I had talked to her on the phone that night and she had mentioned that she didn’t know what she was doing for lunch the following day as she didn’t have the time or energy at this point to make anything. I made her a card for her loss and brought her homemade corn chowder for her lunch the following day. I knew that with everything happening that she would appreciate it. When we went up to lunch and I told her I brought lunch for both of us she started crying and said she appreciated it more than I knew.

I’ve donated 80 cards so far this week. I also plan to make some of your Spring Baskets & fill with Easter treats for the hospice staff and clients. In addition, one of my sisters is sewing masks for the hospice staff due to the severe shortage and another sister is making rag wreaths to brighten their clients’ days. Even though we have different talents, we are honored to do our part. By the way, my 69th birthday is Sunday, so the giveaway would make a wonderful birthday gift (wink, wink). Today I found Hearts in the Window, where people are decorating their windows with all kind of fun designs made from hearts. 84. Well, I’m 85 and live alone. As you can imagine, all my friends by now are younger than I am and many of them have offered to help me by doing my shopping for me or to let them know if there is anything I need. Fortunately I am still capable of looking after myself and I prefer to stay independent.
What I have done, is asked a friend to knit a pile of baby outfits for one of my friends who is pregnant. This helped three people: Me because I didn’t have to do the knitting, her because it gave her something to do and earn a pile of money, and the new mother because her baby is going to be the best dressed child in the world.
I am also a card maker and I didn’t comment here in order to win the papers. I have so many papers that I could start a shop, so please don’t send me any more. However, it DID give me a chance to tell you that I always enjoy watching you and learning from you. Your smiling face is like a tonic.
    Stay safe!

  89. Well, I am a barista at a local coffee shop in Los Angeles. I am quite thankful to still be open, most of our staff has opted out of coming in to work, so it’s only one other Person and myself running the shop. We have removed the tables and chairs to allow a more open space for people to keep a safe distance while they wait for to order. As well as set up a computer monitor with Disney movies playing from when we open at 7am till closing at 4:30pm. It has been so good to see people in line just watching something fun. Many people have thanked me for having these movies on, because all they have been watching lately is the news. They thank me because they didn’t know they needed something fun, and light hearted until they walked into my coffee shops door.
Lifting others spirits in times like these is very important, most people don’t realize it, until someone lifts theirs. I hope everyone has felt a little less stressed when they walk into our door.

We’re seeing the sick ones and advising anyone that can’t come in. Every day my doctor goes to the hospital to care for the COVID-19 patients we have there. And it feels GOOD. This is what we’ve trained to do- help people. It’s a scary time but I’m just so grateful that i have the opportunity, education and experience to be of some assistance because that’s what we all want to do. We just want to help. I believe that.

They were all on the top shelf that I couldn’t reach. A fellow shopper was tall and saw me straining to reach. She immediately just offered to help! There were 4 bags hidden way in the back! Yay!
Just another shopper that helped instead of hoarded!❤️

We met a local single mom of 2 little girls on a plane last year (sat next to her both going and coming home – what are the chances??) and ended up hiring her to partially clean our house twice a month. She is also in school for fire safety and interns at the fire Dept. We have been self-isolating for 2 weeks now because of my husband’s age and health situation.
We decided we’d pay her normal fee yesterday, as all her house cleaning clients have post-poned. She was so grateful.
Now today our son got laid off (family of 4), so we made need to help him next? I am still working, so far (bank related business), but wondering what comes next? We are not rich by any means. Have had tons of medical bills for my husband’s cancer and CHF. Depending on our faith in God to get us thru.
Paying her was the right thing to do, in our view.

The manager came over and told her that she was limited to only one pack. She very politely told him that she was a nurse and had been working double shifts and had not had time to go shopping for her family. He would not make an exception for her, even though she had travel-size packs. I thought this was pretty sad, so I grabbed one of the packs, scanned it, paid for it, and gave it to her. Medical personnel are at the front lines. She should have been an exception.

When I find toilet paper or disinfectants, I purchase them for those who need them. Buying groceries, for those in need, and making pharmacy runs for those who need their meds. We have to help all of our friends, family and neighbors that we can during this time. I was in the grocery store this week, and I saw an elderly woman who had 4 small bags of frozen vegetables, a rotisserie chicken, some day old bread. She started crying and left the cart of food and took off out the door. I went out the door after her. She said she wasn’t able to stand in the long lines, her back and legs were hurting her, and she didn’t have her coupons with her to get the food she needed. I found a place for her to sit down, and I bought her groceries, loaded them in the car. She looked me in the eye and said you are an Angel that God sent me today. Of coarse I started crying with her.

She didn’t realize that there were limits on the number of items a person could purchase….it included a pack of toilet paper and disinfectant wipes. She seemed confused/embarrassed and started to put first the toilet tissue but David said, “We’ll take it.” Then she was told there was a limit on the disinfectant wipes and proceeded to put them away, when I said, “I will take them.” While she finished purchasing her items, I asked the cashier if she could ring the toilet paper and wipes first. Then it was our turn to check out, the cashier rang up the items and I rushed out to give the woman the items she was going to purchase. She said, “Oh, thank you!” I replied, “God bless you!” It was such a simple thing to do…thinking of my mom and mother-in-love, it was a natural thing to do.

She said she was on her last roll of toilet paper. I asked how many did she need that I would share. She said who in this day shares with someone especially toilet paper now. But I did make her take some but she only took one roll. You think I gave her a million dollars. So just touch someones life in some small way. I pray a lot with customers daily. some come in for just that. It touched my heart.

She went to the store and got what I asked for and brought them to me putting them in my garage (to maintain social distancing). People helping people is truly a wonderful thing always but especially so during these trying times.
