Pinwheel Gift Box & Double Fun Fold Card

Today’s projects feature my favorite In Color, Petunia Pop, paired with the Sketched Butterflies Bundle! The Pinwheel Gift Box is a throwback to an Envelope Punch Board version I’ve shared before, but I like this version more! And you know how much I love fun folds! I hope you’ll give these projects a try!

Did I mention Petunia Pop is my favorite In Color? It’s the perfect mix of purple & pink! And no matter how many butterfly sets Stampin’ Up! releases… I want them all! Let’s get to the projects, shall we?

Pinwheel Gift Box

This Pinwheel Gift Box is so stinkin’ cool! I shared a similar version back in 2017, but it was created with the Envelope Punch Board. And, if I’m being honest, I love this version more! I prefer the clean lines of the “pinwheel”! Here’s another look:

I strategically placed the butterfly so the box can still be opened & closed! Here’s how the box opens:

And tucked under the mini 2″ x 2″ card is a Snack Size Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup!

This box would be so cute for party favors or just to brighten someone’s day!

Here’s the template for reference (not to scale):

PROJECT MEASUREMENTS:

  • Finished Dimensions – 2-1/4″H x 2-1/4″W x 7/8″D
  • Designer Series Paper – 6″ x 6″
    • Line up paper diagonally corner-to-corner on the 6″ line on the Simply Scored
    • Score at 4″, 4-7/8″, 7-1/8″, and 8″
    • Rotate a quarter turn and repeat
  • Mini Card Base – 2″ x 4″, scored and folded in half at 2″
  • Mini Card Layers (inside & outside) – 1-3/4″ x 1-3/4″
  • Mini Card Sentiment Layer – 1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″

Double Fun Fold Card

This fun fold card is two fun folds in one: a Book Binding Fold & a Z-Fold! Here’s a top-view to show the two different fun folds combined:

Here’s a closer look at the front of the card:

And here’s the card open:

You can have fun playing around with the placement of the front piece. I opted to center the front panel on the z-fold section.

I hope you’ll give this Double Fun Fold a try!

PROJECT MEASUREMENTS:

  • Finished Card Size (A2) – 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
  • Card Base – 4-1/4″ x 11″
    • Score along the 11″ side at 2-1/8″, 4-1/4″, flip to the backside, and 5-1/2″
  • Cardstock – 4-1/4″ x 3-1/4″
  • Designer Series Paper – 4″ x 6″ (landscape)
    • Cut into 3 pieces – 1″, 3″, and 2″

  5. Thank you Julie! I love your tutorials, easy for an 86 year old to follow. Paper crafting gives me so much joy, my great-grandchildren love all the fun boxes.
I would love to have a larger gift box for story books, etc. 6×8. I make the 12 Days of Christmas for my great-grandchildren. Would love your ideas on this. I make clue cards for them to find their gifts. They love it. ❤️

    • Hi Barbara! Thank you for your feedback! I do have some larger boxes available on my website (not 6×8 big, though). I try to stick to projects that can be created with 8-1/2″ x 11″. I always remain true & authentic to myself in sharing what I love and large boxes are just not in my wheelhouse.
